Wilhelmine Estabrook, May 8, 2009, 8:31AM EDTHi Ruth,
I truly appreciate that you read so many of my recent stories...all in one evening. I'm honored that you took time to post all the interesting comments as well. -
GayLynn P., Apr 29, 2009, 2:35PM EDTAnthromorphism. And I couldn't agree more about kayaks. I felt so much safer in them and the canoe was a disaster immediately. It just didn't feel right but I got trusting my gut confused with overcoming fear and did it anyway. Lesson learned. Till next time anyway.

GayLynn P., Apr 29, 2009, 2:31PM EDTI think my memories are more like quicksand. They just suck me in and hold me. Most of the time it's okay and I don't suffocate and I am eventually able to extricate myself. Since I tend to dwell in the happy land of Denial, the miserable memories don't resurface often (knock wood!). If they do, I spend the day in bed and that usually cures it. Hah! I wish.

Ruth,
I don't work for Gather...I'm just a member here like you. You would need to contact Gather to have yourself removed from their communication. You can do so by sending a mail message to Pam Johnston HERE.
I'm sorry to relay the bad news. Good luck, and I hope you're having a good week.

Ruth MacGill, Apr 19, 2009, 1:24AM EDTOxnard - You are right. We were a career Navy family. My husband was stationed at the Pacific Missile Base at Pt. Mugu and I worked on the CB Base at FACSO and walked five blocks to work until I switched to the night shifts. Now I live with my daughter in Boulevard about 70 miles east of San Diego.
We sold our house in Port Hueneme because my husband had a stroke and he wanted to go to the Navy Hospital in Balboa Park. They sent him to the VA hospital instead. After he died I wished I still had the security of our house in PH, but I couldn't transfer from U.S. Customs back to FACSO anyway. -
Oxnard Oasis, Apr 17, 2009, 7:47PM EDTHi Ruth. I do love Oxnard. Moving here was, without a doubt, the best decision I ever made. The beach is not to crowded and you rarely ever have to pay for parking. So, I'm guessing that the military brought you to Port Hueneme. That how most people end up there. Where do you live now?
